100 years of the Nürburgring | August 13, 1925: Approval for construction of the Nordschleife

13.08.2025

Exactly 100 years ago today – on August 13, 1925 – the construction of the Nürburgring was granted official status as a “major emergency project” by the Ministry of Welfare. This decision marked the decisive starting point for one of the most extraordinary infrastructure projects of the interwar period – and the beginning of a success story that continues to shape motorsport fans and the Eifel region to this day. The contracts with the four construction companies that built the track, which was over 28 kilometers long at the time, within two years were signed the very next day. The work began with a tremendous effort: up to 2,300 people were employed at the same time, most of them previously unemployed in the region. For many, the construction of the Nürburgring was not only a source of income in difficult times, but also a chance to be part of something lasting – a race track that soon gained worldwide renown. August 13, 1925, thus marks not only a historic milestone for motorsport, but also an economic turning point for the entire Eifel region. The vision of those responsible and the energy of countless workers created a venue that remains a magnet for racing enthusiasts and a driving force for tourism, business, and culture to this day. ℹ️ The Nürburgring was opened in 1927. On the #Roadto100, we are looking back at various milestones in our long history as we approach our big anniversary year!

Dacia thrills visitors with event at Nürburgring Offroad Park

30.06.2025

Dacia Germany has brought the Nürburgring Offroad Park to life with a very special event over the past few days. The exciting off-road terrain is just a stone's throw away from the famous Nordschleife and offers a wide range of uses across 80,000 square meters. Dacia Germany has now used this for an event that is well worth seeing. Highlights included a vehicle camp with roof tent overnight stays and campfire romance, as well as high-speed laps by rally legend Sébastien Loeb in his Dakar race car. Carbon body, all-wheel drive, and a 360 hp V6 engine: the Dacia Sandrider usually takes on the rough tracks of the Dakar Rally. This year, the famous test of endurance for man and machine covered around 8,000 kilometers through the desert of Saudi Arabia. Now the vehicle, which won several stages of the Dakar, celebrated its premiere at the Nürburgring – fittingly in parallel with the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, which is also world-famous and unforgiving. In this case, however, the big stage was not the Nordschleife, but the Offroadpark Nürburgring at the foot of the race track. For many years, fun and adrenaline have been waiting there for larger groups, B2B events, and corporate customers of the Nürburgring on an area of around 80,000 square meters. Whether steep uphill, through gravel, or in the middle of water obstacles, the off-road park consists of various modules that can be used individually. Dacia Germany used these to create a spectacular off-road race track for the Dakar racing car – complete with jumps and flying gravel. At the wheel was none other than Frenchman Sébastien Loeb, the most successful rally driver of all time with nine world championship titles. Happy Dacia customers, expert journalists, and influential influencers took their seats alongside the rally legend for an unforgettable ride. There was also plenty to cheer about for many spectators of the 24-hour race: the Dacia Camp was open to all visitors on these days. In addition to a large vehicle exhibition, autograph sessions, and other activities, there was also a competition to win rides in the rally car. Those who weren't riding alongside Loeb and other Dakar pros could test the off-road capabilities of numerous current Dacia models on and off the Nürburgring off-road park under the guidance of experienced race track instructors. As the crowning glory of each day, some Dacia guests experienced the unique camping atmosphere of the Nürburgring. On a large plateau above the area, they enjoyed the campfire atmosphere in roof tents and watched the hustle and bustle around the 24-hour race in the Green Hell.“With this event, Dacia Germany has impressively demonstrated the versatility of our off-road park,” praised Christian Stephani, Managing Director of the Nürburgring. “The laps of the Dacia Sandrider in particular were a rally spectacle the likes of which the Nürburgring Offroad Park has rarely seen before.” ➡️ Want to escape the daily grind. All information about Good Friday at the Nürburgring

16.04.2025

All over Germany, car enthusiasts gather in various public places on Good Friday to share their passion. At the Nürburgring, a large crowd is expected again this year when thousands of visitors gather around the track. The Nürburgring operating company is deploying a team of over 150 stewards, security staff and traffic wardens to support the measures and visitor management of the public order office and the police. A central aspect of the close cooperation is the protection of the region and nature from excessive noise and waste. Although there is no event at the Nürburgring on Good Friday, thousands of people come. The fascination of the world-famous race track has also made it a popular destination for tuners on this day. For the Nürburgring, the public order office and the police, there is therefore one thing above all else on the agenda: to control and educate the many visitors accordingly and to punish any infringements. In order to relieve traffic and the local areas, the B412 will be closed in coordination with those responsible at Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG, Landesbetrieb Mobilität, the Ahrweiler district administration and the Mayen police headquarters, the B412 will be opened to through traffic. However, depending on capacity utilization in the Brünnchen and Pflanzgarten areas, traffic may be temporarily closed and diverted. In addition, various traffic circles will be set up so that only straight through traffic is possible. Extensive parking facilities along the Nordschleife and Grand Prix TrackThe Nürburgring will provide extensive parking facilities around the circuit in order to reduce congestion as much as possible. Almost all parking spaces in the A zone near the Grand Prix circuit are open, as well as additional parking spaces in the B zone if required. On the Nordschleife, in addition to the best-known Brünnchen and Pflanzgarten parking lots, other areas in the Schwalbenschwanz and, if all parking areas in Adenau are full, other spaces in the Adenauer Forst will also be open. A large contingent of stewards and additional security personnel will also monitor the ban on barbecues and camping. Traffic violations will be consistently punishedOverall, a high volume of traffic is to be expected in the area of the main access roads to the Nürburgring, in the town of Adenau and in the surrounding villages. The police will be focusing on possible traffic violations, paying particular attention to road safety and vehicle compliance as well as driver behavior. The message from the law enforcement officers is clear: anyone who behaves "out of line" must expect consequences. These may include all-day bans, vehicle seizures or, in individual cases, confiscation of driving licenses. Illegal parking outside designated areas will ultimately lead to the vehicle being towed away for a fee. An overview of the open parking areas: Parking areas Grand Prix Track: A1, A2, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, B zone if required Parking areas Nordschleife: Brünnchen P96 Pflanzgarten (P97+P98) Schwalbenschwanz P100 Adenauer Forst (opens when all parking areas in Adenau are full)
